The wheelchair can be obtained with approval from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), or through direct purchase by the client.
Procedure for obtaining a free electric wheelchair:
If you are not applying in person, but through another person, a power of attorney is required for the LKC (Medical Expert Commission), NHIF, and the commercial establishment where you will receive the assistive devices allocated to you. The power of attorney does not need to be notarized.
A certificate from a psychiatric dispensary stating that the person is fit to operate an electric wheelchair. This certificate is submitted to the LKC for the issuance of a medical protocol.
An electronic medical protocol issued by the LKC (Medical Expert Commission) according to the profile of the disease – neurological, orthopedic, surgical, or oncological.
Within 7 days of the protocol's issuance, you will receive approval from the NHIF – number and date – which will be communicated to you by phone via Viber / SMS.
You notify us of the approval received from the Regional Health Insurance Fund (RHIF) and receive your allocated electric wheelchair. Upon receipt of the assistive devices by an authorized person, that person is obliged to present the power of attorney, the personal ID of the entitled person, and their own personal ID.
The electric wheelchair is granted for 6 years, after which you can apply again following the same procedure.
Within the 6-year operational period, you are entitled to several targeted aids for repairs, tires and bearings, and batteries.
Warranty and post-warranty service are performed at our own specialized service center.
